So what do Notaries do?

Generally, Notaries draw up and authenticate (certify) documents that are official or public in nature.  Some examples of the typical kinds of documents we notarise are set out here. Upon receipt of sufficient proof, we authenticate documents by giving clients notarial certificates, confirmed by our signature and official seal.

Unlike Justices of the Peace, all Notaries Public are lawyers and can authenticate documents for use internationally.  To this end, each of our Notaries has an official seal, copies of which have been filed with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as well as many Consulates and Embassies.
